“Lost Games” - Interactive & Print Graphics (The Straits Times)

Services: 3D, Illustration, Editorial

The Straits Times published an interactive web story about traditional games in Singapore where I helped to make improvements to their 3D assets as well as create new assets to match the project's fun and colourful art direction.

An accompanying print feature was also created in which I provided playful instructional illustrations to show readers how the games were played.

Lighting Adjustments and Colour Grading

The client made a school courtyard model but they wanted the scene to be brighter and have a flat, 2D “vector-like” quality so I adjusted the light source for sharper shadows and oriented it such that the main angle is receiving more direct light. Colours were also adjusted after baking the lighting influence to have a more vibrant, less realistic feel.

Low Poly 3D Assets

To add more details to the scene, I thought of commonly found school objects and created additional low poly assets.

Final 3D Implementation

Print Story

For the print feature, I created instructional illustrations and helped with initial layout planning.
