Concepting

The main theme for the character design, Mihail Saphir, was "Desert Flower", therefore the sandy tones, cactus green accents, and the cool oasis blue hair reminiscent of certain species of succulents as a contrasting counter part.

Props, "Usurper's Throne" and "Tactician's Table", were also designed to expand upon the story with the main trope being "Kingdoms at War".

Illustration Process

Thumbnail sketches first drawn to figure out how to arrange compositional elements. Out of the four shortlisted sketches, one was then picked to be refined before proceeding with the final painting.
